housing advice

Whatever your age, if you have a physical disability or a long-term illness, obtaining suitable housing is an on-going problem, especially for those who do not own and/or are unable to afford property within the private sector. There are increasing issues for those living with HIV regarding suitability of accommodation whether privately owned, council, housing association, and the stigma that still surrounds this diease. N.B. Housing benefit rates and concessions differ from area to area, so you will need to contact your local council for their policies and rates.

clickable map of councils in cornwall Below we have included links to information regarding housing and advice available to those living with HIV, within each of the six district council areas within Cornwall. Specific advice can be obtained by contacting the KPS help line and/or your social worker or your local Citizen Advice. Links to this and other information is located by clicking on the adjacent buttons.

Please note: Concerns should be immediately referred to your local social worker regarding unsuitability of your current situation, harassment and urgent adaptions due to physical disabilities and or your condition.
