shiatsu
What is it? Shiatsu (Acupressure) is a system of healing through touch, first developed in Japan- (it means 'finger pressure'), in Japanese, based on key aspects of Traditional Oriental Medicine. Who can it help? It is useful for those carrying tension in the neck and shoulder; for those suffering from backache, sciatica, insomnia and nervous indigestion and bowel syndrome; and for some who are depressed, pessimistic or over-anxious. But it is an holistic therapy which aims to balance an individual's energies rather than cure particular symptoms; and anyone and everyone can benefit. What happens in a session? A treatment takes about fifty minutes; but a first treatment is longer because the therapist may need to ask questions to help them decide what treatment is most suitable. Shiatsu is received fully clothed (though you will be asked to remove your shoes, and perhaps some jewellery or a heavily buckled belt,) lying on a futon. You feel yourself gently stretched, moved and pressed. Please wear loose clothing; not tight fitting jeans. Women should wear trousers. Books & Information Shiatsu - D.
