yoga
What is it? Yoga is the practise of gentle exercises, postures and breathing techniques which lead towards developing a meditative state of peacefulness and harmony. Who can it help? Anyone who wishes to improve both their physical and mental state. There is a major relaxation component and therefore Yoga benefits all stress conditions. Even people who are unwell can benefit as we work and respect individual's physical limitations. What happens in a session? Sessions last from one to two hours. Clients are advised to wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat, or sleeping bag to lie on. The class always begins and ends with relaxation, usually lying down. This may be accompanied by soft music and or visualisation. "Yoga relieves stress. Most people are suffering from some form of mental fatigue - more than half of all people visiting GP's complain about it. One of the first symptoms of stress is an over-active mind. Yoga quietens the mind and is also a complete form of exercise. Yoga teaches that life is a question of balance. Tension is a fundamental life force, but it must be balanced with relaxation".
